5 Creative Ways to Use Video for Lead Generation

Hey there! Lead generation is an issue that every business struggles with, and, to repeat something that every business owner knows, video can be really helpful in bringing in more leads. So, in today’s Video Lion, I want to share some creative ways to use video for lead generation. No magic formulas or overnight success stories here – just practical approaches that can help you connect with potential clients.

Come with me!

Let’s start with my favorite type of video: Client Video Testimonials. I’m talking about client testimonials that work as real effective sales tools. Instead of the traditional video that people record by themselves, saying “This company is amazing”, try having conversations with your clients, interviewing them about their journey and the results you helped them achieve. Let them share the issue they faced, their hesitations, and how you helped them overcome it. Keep it casual – like you’re chatting over coffee. When potential clients see real people sharing genuine experiences, including the ups and downs, they’re more likely to relate and engage.

Next up is creating truly helpful short social media videos. Skip the promotional angle and focus on solving specific problems your audience faces. For example, if you’re a financial advisor, rather than talking about your services, create videos explaining how to read a credit report or breaking down common investment terms. The goal isn’t to sell – it’s to be genuinely helpful. If you’re consistently generating content that adds massive value, you will create a following and reinforce your authority in your field. And when you consistently share knowledge that makes people’s lives easier, they naturally become interested in learning more.

Third on our list is “Process Transparency” videos. Show what actually happens behind the scenes in your business. If you’re a web designer, share videos of how you approach a new project, including the occasional roadblocks and how you solve them. If you run a restaurant, take people through your morning prep routine. This isn’t about presenting an embellished image – it’s about showing the real work that goes into delivering value to clients. People value transparency and honesty. This type of videos will also reinforce your professional authority and make people curious about your services.

Fourth: Educational Series Videos. Pick a specific topic in your field and break it down into bite-sized pieces. These can be longer videos, 5 to 10 minutes long. But here’s the key – make each video focused on one specific concept or skill. For example, if you’re a tax attorney, create a series about understanding business deductions. Each video could tackle one category – home office expenses, vehicle costs, or business travel – with clear examples of what qualifies and what doesn’t. Each video should leave viewers with something they can try right away. When people learn something useful from you, they’re more likely to think of you when they need professional services.

Finally, consider creating Question & Answer videos. Pay attention to what your current clients frequently ask, and create short videos addressing these common concerns. Keep them simple and direct. No need for fancy production – just honest, straightforward answers to real questions. You can pepper these with personal, honest stories. This approach shows that you understand your audience’s needs and are willing to share your expertise to help them make informed decisions.

Remember, the goal of these videos isn’t to generate leads instantly. It’s about building relationships through helpful content. Sometimes people will watch your videos for months before reaching out – and that’s okay. Focus on being consistently helpful and genuine, and the connections will develop naturally.

Think of these videos as starting conversations rather than closing deals. Share your knowledge, give massive value, show your work process, and let people get to know the real humans behind your business. When people feel they know and trust you through your content, they’re more likely to reach out when they need services like yours.
